The second Civitas Issues Roundtable of the year will be on Saturday, September 24. Our guest will be Michael-John Voss of Arch City Defenders, a local organization “advocating and combating the criminalization of poverty and state violence against poor people and people of color.” The event will run from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Civitas office. This past Sunday (Aug. 21), NBC Nightly News ran a special story on the systemic problems in North St. Louis County and the work of Arch City Defenders. It’s not required watching before attending the Sept. 24th event, but it’s always helpful to keep informed on local issues.
