Resolution GA-01 April 7
Re.: Poverty in the Bahamas
Submitted to: General Assembly
Submitted by: Bahamas
Date: April 7, 2022
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #1 is No Poverty, and
Whereas Article 23 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.”, and
Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and
Appalled that one in nine people live below the poverty line in the Bahamas, and
Concerned that only 86% of adults in the Bahamas have jobs, that’s nearly one in five that don’t, and
Dismayed that 1 in every 3 people in the Bahamas has had food problems at least once in their life,
Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:
- The Bahamas will start an organization called Farms for the Poor (FFTP) which will provide poor people with homes, jobs, and food.
- FFTP will turn 20 of the 30 uninhabited Bahamian islands into farmland and build small houses on them. We will hire people with not enough money to support their families to bring their families onto one island, meaning we hire 20 families to work and grow food on the island.
- FFTP will supply the hired families with basic items for cooking, hygiene, survival, etc. Things that help them live out on the islands. These items include, 20x WASH & Dignity Kit, 40x First aid kits, Pots and Pans for cooking, which we will estimate to be about $1000, and we will spend $5000 on farming tools as well. We will estimate this all to about $12,000, anything else that is needed will be supplied by demand of the families. Supply ships will come in to deliver supplies once every two weeks. It will also collect much of the food planted by the families to bring back to the mainland to help feed more poor families.
- Each island will have a budget of $200,000 dollars. This will be used on the houses and farms and whatever else is there. This totals up to about $4,000,000 for all the islands. The combined requested money needed to fund this resolution comes up to be $4,012,000
- FFTP will work with Tyson Food, they will help supply us with some equipment, and some money. We will do this in exchange for branding on our organization and 10% of the food we grow. We will also ask the United States for some money to build some of the homes/farms.
- FFTP will check on its progress every year. We expect to have see the poverty decrease by at least 5% during the first year. If we do not reach our goal then we will turn the other 10 islands into farms and do the same thing with them. If we do reach the goal, then we will turn 5 of the ten islands into farms to keep expanding and bringing in more food.
- In the future, if FFTP continues to grow, then we will begin to expand into African countries, a lot of them have high poverty rates and we can use land there to grow food and house families as well.

Re.: Helping human trafficking victims in Jordan
Submitted to: General Assembly
Submitted by: Jordan
Date: April 7, 2022
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #3 is Good Health and Well-Being, and
Whereas Article 4 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.”, and
Whereas Article 5 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”, and
Realizing that war in the Middle East is causing millions of poor refugees to enter Jordan unregistered, and
Concerned that people who are unregistered are more likely to be trafficked, and
Shocked that 206 cases of human trafficking were identified in 2019,
Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:
- We will supply Jordan with equipment to build 100 therapy shelters around the country. We will also supply them with enough personnel to staff the shelters. We will work with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to help staff shelters and help the victims.
- This plan will cost around 45 million dollars. This money will go to rent space for the therapy shelters and to pay the salaries of staff therapists. To raise enough money we will need to raise the dues of the 30 countries that pay the most in dues by 1% for 2 years.
- We will report to the UN every 6 months for 5 years, in order to make sure the therapy program has been effective. We will look at the numbers of patients who have successfully left the program, and/or those who have reduced their treatment visits; we will also consider success for individuals still receiving treatment, but who have been able to re-establish productive lives. .
- If the program proves successful in these areas, then we will start expanding to other countries such as Egypt, Syria, and Iran.

Whereas Article 25, section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.”, and
Shocked innocent families bombed, shot at, and
Dismayed nursery/kindergarten bombing results in 15 child casualties, and
Realizing children are living alone and have lost their families due to wars,
Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:
- The United Nations will send 2,500 transport vans to Dnipro to evacuate approximately 75,000 women and children in one run. They will be taken to Tiraspol, Moldova and surrounding cities where temporary shelters, food, and water will be waiting. These shelters can each hold a family for 3 years.
- To raise the money we will produce ¨We are the world 3¨ with musicians Lionel Richie, Justin Beiber, Ariana Grande, Usher, and Ukrainian singer Ruslana. This will raise around $125,000,000 dollars. We will promote this on social media platforms and news networks.
- We will ask all UN countries for 1% of their dues ASAP. If all countries participate we will raise 60 million dollars.
- We will ask Apple for $1 for every product sold. This will raise roughly 1 million a day. This will be put into gas, food, and water.
- The money will be put to temporary houses in Moldova where the citizens will be taken(21 million), the gas and cost of the transport vans(100,000,000) plus gas, and food and water for workers and civilians. Our backup city, if something were to happen, will be Iasi Romania and other surrounding cities.
- After 2 weeks we will see how many people have been evacuated and if we see our plan is working we will continue with the plan and have the transport vans do more evacuations. We will do this across Ukraine.

Re.: Urban Air Pollution in Mongolia
Submitted to: General Assembly
Submitted by: Mongolia
Date: April 7, 2022
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #3 is Good Health and Well-Being, and
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #7 is Affordable and Clean Energy, and
Whereas Article 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”, and
Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and
Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and
Shocked that in Mongolia, pneumonia is the second leading cause of under-five child mortality, and
Stunned that children living in urban areas have 40% lower lung function, and
Horrified that air pollution is 27 times the level that is considered safe, and
Realizing that the leading cause of air pollution is the burning of coal,
Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:
- The United Nations will begin a program called Carbon Dioxide Elimination (CDE) which will focus in Mongolia but will possibly expand to Japan, China, Bangladesh, and India (four other nations with high air pollution).
- CDE will be planting trees to decrease the amount of CO2 in the air and in turn improve the air quality. CDE will plant enough trees to increase the percentage of tree coverage in Mongolia from 7% to at least 15%.
- CDE will also place 1,000 wind turbines across Mongolia and specifically in Ulaanbaatar to give the people a cleaner source of power. The wind turbines will be stationed around Mongolia to power cities and start to change the source of power from fossil fuels to renewable energies.
- To create CDE, we will ask for donations from Japan and China (and other countries that will benefit from CDE) to help fund and spread this program. We are hoping for a minimum of 6 million dollars to be donated. CDE will also be partnering with Siemens to supply wind turbines for Mongolia and potentially other countries within CDE. We will also be asking to increase the UN dues of the 10 richest countries by 2% which will raise $14,514,963.36. This would make a total of $20,514,963.36. $20,000,000 will go to the wind turbines and the rest will be used to plant trees.
- Carbon Dioxide Elimination will last for 10 years. If after this amount of time CO2 levels have decreased this program will be renewed for another 10 years. If CDE is renewed the program will be spread to other countries with high CO2 levels, such as Japan, China, Bangladesh, and India.

Re.: Reducing the Effects of Soil Erosion
Submitted to: General Assembly
Submitted by: Fiji
Date: April 7, 2022
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #13 is Climate Action, and
Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and
Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and
Concerned that because of erosion there is not going to be enough fertile soil to grow crops, and
Afraid that soil erosion will force citizens to have to relocate in Fiji, and
Knowing that as a result of soil erosion, many rivers are getting silted up, causing stress and death to wildlife,
Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:
- We plan to provide Fiji with short-term food relief and establish a planting program. We will provide Fiji with many different plants and seeds in order to revive the soil that is unhealthy and slow erosion. We will also provide greenhouses in which to grow crops. We will use the (UNEP) to help us set up this program.
- Next, we will provide a temporary food relief program, consisting of food that is nutritious from local trusted farming companies in the United States.
- The total cost will be $1,000,000 which will include produce, around 100 greenhouses, trees, and tree seedlings. We will start a website to hopefully recruit about 150 local citizens to volunteer and help plant trees.
- To make sure our planting is reliable, we will have around 15 UNEP inspectors check every month. We will also record the rates of starvation in Fiji, to see if the plants are helping feed people. If our program is helpful, we will share it with other countries such as Vanuatu, Viti Levu, Tuvalu, and the Solomon Islands. We plan for this program to last around 5 years.

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #1 is No Poverty, and
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #2 is Zero Hunger, and
Whereas Article 2 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without any distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”, and
Whereas Article 2 section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.”, and
Whereas Article 17, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.”, and
Whereas Article 17, section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.”, and
Whereas Article 24 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.”, and
Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and
Recognizing… that 69% of Haiti’s citizens live in extreme poverty, and
Alarmed by… 4.4 million Haitians are in need of immediate care, and
Emphasizing… 1 million people are classified as an emergency case according to the World Food Program, and
Having considered… Haiti is in high risk of natural disasters such as hurricanes which arose the problem in the first place,
Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:
- The United Nations will start a program known as Haiti Poverty and Starvation Dilemma (HPSD) which will center on liberating Haiti from poverty and starvation.
- HPSD will include, Lebanon, Sweden, and Turkmenistan along with some NGOs (non government organization) such as grocery stores, restaurants, and businesses for an additional donation hoping to raise around 15 million in total fundings
- HPSD will be sending aid to Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, such as temporary housing, staff (fishing and farming teachers so they can provide their own food), fishing supplies (bait poles hooks etc) and boats for the fishing as well.
- To allow HPSD to have enough funding for this project, we are requesting the UN to raise dues on the 15 wealthiest nations by 1% this will allow us to have 16,750,000 to put towards the HPSD. This will allow us to be able to put this plan into action and have enough money for the transportation costs as well as materials to aid in the survival of Haitians living in poverty.
- We are hoping to spend around 5.5 million US dollars on better shelters to house 20,000 people for three years. To solve the starvation problems within Haiti we will be sending 250 agriculture and fishing teachers for 3 years for a total cost of $750,000. We will be transporting 705,000 dollars of fishing and farming equipment like poles, hooks, wheel hoes, and other fishing and agriculture necessities. We are also bringing $10,000 US dollars worth of seeds and plants of fruits and vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, spinach, onions and cabbage. Some fish species in Haiti prever carrots over other baits therefore we could use grown carrots separate them from consuming and bait and use them to fish. Although at the beginning (before carrots are grown) we will provide them with monthly deliveries of canned meat for bait only costing around 240000 for the first year of this project.
- We are hoping to check on the results of this project after 3 years of the HPSD being in motion. After checking our results, if things are working to plan after the initial 3 years, we will expand our housing as well as renewing the first set. We will also be withdrawing the teachers and allowing the educated citizens to teach others of the skills they gained. As well as purchasing more equipment (fishing poles, boats, ect.).
