This Saturday, April 18, Civitas is hosting a NewsHour for students, teachers and other guests. We will have two guests in the 10:00 – 11:00 AM ZOOM program, each with a half-hour for presentation as well as Q&A.
Laura Chackes is a practicing psychologist and Director of the Center for Mindfulness & CBT (coincidentally located right across the hall from the Civitas Hub in Creve Coeur.) She will be discussing and moderating discussion on the stressors from (a) the coronavirus, and (b) extended periods of time on ZOOM (there is an obvious irony here).
Later in the hour, our guest will be Richard Weiss who has been a very active writer for the Pulitzer Center’s 1619 Project and previously the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the STL Beacon. Recently, his primary focus has been on historical racial issues in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Currently, he is documenting the demographics of the COVID-19 virus in our area. In particular, he is examining the presence of the virus in our area’s poorest zip code [63106 — north St. Louis including site of former Pruitt-Igoe Housing Project] and one of the wealthiest [63105 – Clayton].
Both Laura and Dick are graduates of University City High School. Please join them and Civitas for the NewsHour this Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 AM.
