Join us on Saturday, September 9, from 10 am until noon for a special guest speaker and a casual discussion. This is our first event of the school year and we’re starting with an issue that could effect high schoolers. Should 16 year olds be allowed to vote? In some states like Maryland students are allowed to vote in local issues and for school boards. It’s an interesting idea to promote healthy voting habits in younger people, but critics are concerned that students may not be ready for the responsibility.
To help kick off our discussion, we’ll be joined by a high school student in Kansas City, MO, DJ Yearwood. He’s been written about in NPR and appeared on local news. (DJ will be joining us in-person!)
The event will be held at the Grant’s View Library in South County, 9700 Musick Road; 63123 from 10 am until noon on Saturday, September 9.
