Help contact infrequent voters! - CIVITAS-STL

Help contact infrequent voters!

Hi students! We’ve spoken a lot about how important voting is this year. (Some of you have written excellent essays encouraging others to vote!) We are providing another opportunity for you to get civically engaged, this time we’ll be sending postcards to infrequent voters.

Civitas will provide the postcards, stamps, etc all you need to do is write out some encouraging words about why it’s important to vote. Stephanie has written an excellent guide below which includes some possible messages.

If you are interested in helping us encourage more voters, please fill out the form below! (And yes this may count as service hours for students needing those.)

Stephanie’s Information:

Thank you for volunteering to handwrite postcards!

Important to Know:

  • No return address.
  • Please use the person’s first name in your greeting.
  • Only sign your first name.
  • The written message should be an encouragement to vote. You can create your own or use one of the sample messages below, which are lines from email letters Civitas students wrote.
  • Please mail the postcards no later than Friday, October 23.

Sample messages:

Dear Brittani,
Thank you in advance for voting in this important presidential election. Your vote gives you the chance to put your beliefs into action. Every vote counts and every vote matters!

Jocelyn

Dear Jamie,
The 2020 presidential election is just days away, and it is dire that you participate as a voter. Now more than ever, we need a leader that will stand up for all of us and protect the citizens of the United States of America. Please share your voice by casting a vote!

Thank you,
Carlos

Dear Alex,
If you care about the Black Lives Matter movement, climate change, COVID-19, or any other topic important to you, please use your voice and your vote to speak up and make a difference on November 3rd.

Thank you,
Jules

Dear Starr,
I am writing to encourage you to vote on November 3. Elections play a vital role in our democracy and at the current time, in the middle of a pandemic as well as a climate crisis, it is more important than ever for everyone to exercise their right to vote!

Thank you,
Eli

Dear Greg,
It is so important as American citizens that we exercise our right to vote. Every single vote matters, including yours. You can make a difference. There is much at stake in this election, including Health Care, Women’s Reproductive Rights, Climate Change, Immigration Rights, and more. Please vote on November 3!

Thanks!
Damian
