Last spring, Civitas took students on a radioactive tour of St. Louis. One of our goals was to spread awareness of Westlake Landfill, Coldwater Creek, and the local connection to the Manhattan Project. Earlier this year we also invited JustMomsSTL to come and speak to students about their personal experiences living near Westlake. Yesterday, we received an email from one of the students who accompanied us on the tour.
Chris Harden (SLUH, 2016; George Washington U., 2020) sent us the following e-mail:
Not sure if you guys caught this in the wake of national politics, but radioactive waste was just detected in Robbin Dailey’s home — the woman who we ran into at Westlake on our Radioactive Stl tour. (The story can be found here) This is after groundwater contamination was found a month ago.
Hope you’re doing well!
Chris
We thought that you would find it to be of interest. Obviously we all have to see what a Trump Administration will do with the EPA, the Army Corps of Engineers and environmental concerns in general.
