Resolution GA-01 May 12

Re.:                             Human Trafficking

Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            Egypt
Date:                           May 12, 2022

Whereas Article 4 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.”, and

Whereas Article 5 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”, and

Revolted that an estimated 200,000 American children are at risk for trafficking into the sex industry, and

Aghast that each year 14,500 to 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the US, and

Confounded that Victims from at least 127 countries have reported to have been exploited, and

Discerning that 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The program is called the Trafficking Protection Agency (TPA). The program educates potential human trafficking victims through different classes and helps find rehabilitation centers and educate past trafficking victims.
  2. The program will start in Pakistan, Thailand and China. The program can be expanded to other countries. The program will start in those countries because of the severe problem with human trafficking, and it will work to combat the issue.
  3. The money needed for the starting program in only three countries is $500 thousand and to pay I will raise the dues for the ten wealthiest nations by 0.5%.
  4. The money will pay for school supplies such as classrooms, chairs, desks, TV, laptops, sparring mats (for self defense classes), paper, pencils and 6 teacher salaries.
  5. The TPA will be operating for 5 years.
  6. At the end of the time program the TPA will be expanded to other countries with high human trafficking rates.

Re.:                             Forced Child Marriage in Bangladesh

Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            Iceland
Date:                           May 12, 2022
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #5 is Gender Equality, and

Whereas Article 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”, and

Whereas Article 16 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage, and at its dissolution.”, and

Whereas Article 16 section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.”, and
Whereas Article 16 section 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the state.”, and

Infuriated that globally, approximately 12 million girls are forced into marriage before the age of 18 each year and we are

Shocked that in these marriages, 1 in 3 women are subjected to physical or sexual violence by their partner, and

Dismayed that this violence often leads to early pregnancies which expose girls to the risk of complications in pregnancy and childbirth and we are

Realizing that these marriages, despite everything these girls go through, affect their ability to actively engage or even attend school, which therefore deprives the wife of economic independence from their ‘spouse,’ and the early pregnancies and birth complications occurring are the leading cause of death among adolescent girls.

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will start a program called Freeing Forced Marriages (FFM) which will focus on preventing forced child marriages in Bangladesh.
  2. We will start with building one boarding school in Dhaka. This school will be a safe place for young girls to learn how to be in the workforce and they will learn job skills.
  3. We will have an awareness campaign, so families know this is a safe option for their girls.
  4. If girls already are married off and can escape these marriages, we will provide a safe shelter and resources for them in this school.
  5. This school will not cost anything to the families of the girls.
  6. Funding: Harry Styles has agreed that his next world tour will raise money for this cause. For each ticket sold, 20% of the proceeds will go to FFM. Additionally, he will perform a world concert with Madonna and Pink titled “Women’s Empowerment Concert.” All of the money made from this concert, including merchandise and ticket sales, will go directly to the FFM.
  7. Timeline: Freeing Forced Marriages will last ten years. If after this time forced child marriages have been reduced by 10%, it can be renewed for another ten years. If it is renewed, it will transfer over to Chad.
  8. Evaluation: We will evaluate the amount of females in the work force and the forced child marriage rate.

Re.:                             Discrimination against LGBT people

Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            Argentina
Date:                           May 12, 2022

Whereas Article 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”, and

Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

Deeply Concerned that LGBTQ youth are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than others, and

Alarmed by the fact that it is illegal to be LGBTQ in 69 countries, and

Emphasizing that in the United States of America that 1 in 6 adults in Generation Z consider themselves LGBTQ, and

Having Considered that 90% of LGBTQ students hear anti-LGBTQ comments at schools,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will begin a program called Sexuality Equality Act (SEA) which is designed to get rid of discrimination against the LGBTQ community.
  2. This program will be operated in Argentina and Brazil. We have chosen to operate here because these countries are known to be discriminatory against the LGBTQ community, and we want to change that.
  3. We will need $19.8 million dollars to help fund and pay for this program, and we are planning to obtain that amount by raising dues on the 10 nations that pay the highest amount of dues by 1%.
  4. This money will be used to purchase textbooks, paying for college students to give talks and speeches, paying for, and equipping investigators to inspect companies for anti-LGBTQ practices. If a company is found to have anti-LGBTQ practices in place they will be fined a portion of their income in amounts ranging from 0.5%-50% depending on if they enact the changes we recommend and how many times we have to tell them to change their policies.
  5. This program will operate for 3 years. If discrimination drops by 5% by the end of the program, it can be renewed and expanded to other countries for another 3 years.

Re.:                             Unemployment in Venezuela

Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            Luxembourg
Date:                           May 12, 2022
Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #8 is Decent Work and Economic Growth, and

Whereas Article 23 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.”, and

Whereas Article 23 section 2 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work.”, and

Whereas Article 23 section 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity, and supplemented, if necessary, by other means of social protection.”, and

Whereas Article 23 section 4 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.”, and

Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and

Noting with deep concern that the unemployment rate is 9.14% and growing closer to 10% and,

Shocked that Venezuela has been in an economic collapse since around 2013 and,

Appalled that 76.6% of Venezuelans live on less than $1.90 a day, which is the standard for extreme poverty,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. Fund the production of a Carnival Cruise Line port in Vargas along with the production of several Sandals Resorts in Caracas.
  2. A single cruise ship provides 2,200 jobs, and a cruise port will provide several cruise ships coming in to dock monthly.
  3. A single resort will provide around 1,200 jobs, around $20M in annual salaries, and around $40M to impact the local economy.
  4. EAM will also partner with Sandals and increase advertisements for flights to Caracas in airports internationally. There will be an increased number of LED video screens and sponsoring in several airports.
  5. We estimate that the overall plan will cost around $860.6M. To create this plan, we request that the UN increase dues on the wealthiest countries by GDP per capita per person.
  6. The resort will take around 6 months to 1 year to plan and closer to 3 years to complete. Advertising will be put into effect immediately. The cruise port will take 5 months to plan and 1 year to construct. Once everything is constructed we will wait two years and then we will reevaluate the economic structure of the country.

Whereas Article 12 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Affirming it is a problem because there is more than enough food to feed everyone in the world, and

Realizing 811 million people go to bed hungry every day, and

Recognizing 9.9 percent of the world’s population is hungry,

  2. The countries this program will be operating in are Chad, Haiti, Madagascar, and Rwanda. The program will be operating in those countries because they need help and they can help in the fight to stop hunger.

  4. The money will be spent on chicks and chicken food to allow families in hunger to either eat them or make them into a chicken farm for more eggs to eat.
  5.  This program will be operating for 5 years.

Re.:                             Put an End to Wildlife Trafficking and Pet Trade

Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            Brazil
Date:                           May 12, 2022
Whereas Article 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”, and

Whereas Article 2 section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without any distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”, and

Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

Appalled that millions of birds, tropical fish, turtles, and mammals are being plucked from the wild and traded domestically or exported to the U.S, EU, China, the Middle East, and elsewhere. Many are endangered, and

Shocked that while some animals are seized, and some low-level smugglers are caught, the organizers of this global criminal enterprise are rarely brought to justice, and

Realizing that this trafficking crisis needs urgent action, as the trade not only harms wildlife but also decimates ecosystems and puts public health at risk. It also is strongly linked to invasive species around the globe which damages Earth’s ecosystems,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will initiate a program called PPT (Preventing Pet Trade) in Brazil.
  2. PPT will educate schools around the globe to address the issues of the pet trade and wildlife trafficking and how to prevent it. PPT will also cooperate with other NGOs. (non-governmental organizations.)
  3. To fund this operation we will inquire for a 2 million dollar donations from a collaboration made of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Jane Goodall, and the Irwin family.
  4. PPT will last for five years. After this precaution, if the pet trade and wildlife trafficking rates worsen or stay the same, PPT will take more ambitious precautions to stop wildlife trafficking and the pet trade for good.
