Public Policy Fellow - CIVITAS-STL

Public Policy Fellow

As of January 2026, Civitas is retiring the Game Changers program and unveiling the Civitas Public Policy Fellows.

This is a work in progress and some information may be added/removed while we fine tune things. For more details, check out this email Arthur sent out in December 2025.

What is a Civitas Public Policy Fellow?
This program allows students to take on new responsibilities and receive special recognition for their accomplishments with Civitas. Our goal is to have students do more than show up and participate. We want them to utilize the resources of Civitas to further engage in becoming ‘news junkies’ who work individually and collaboratively to develop proposed solutions to societal problems. There will be a final project of your choosing that you must complete in order to earn the position of a Civitas Public Policy Fellow. (It will not be terribly time-consuming. We recognize the time pressures students face.)

How can I qualify to be a Civitas Public Policy Fellow?
There are several ways a student can become a Fellow. The general idea is each time you engage with Civitas, you earn a point. If you receive enough points you can apply for our internship, request a letter of recommendation, and have access to other perks. Possible ways to earn points include:

  • Attend a Model UN Session
  • Volunteer to help chair a Middle School Model UN Session
  • Assist with the Civitas Examiner (this includes writing articles, editing, helping with layout & design, etc)
  • Attend Saturday events including guest speakers, discussion groups, & more
  • Other ways are coming soon!

How can I check my number of points/sign-up for events?
Students can still go to any event page and fill out the sign-up form to attend. (You’ll often see these in our newsletter.) OR you can sign-up for events and check your current points by accessing the form below. Have your email handy, because there will be a verification code sent for security purposes.

Who is eligible to be a Fellow and how much does it cost?
This program is only open to high school students in the STL region. (Sorry middle schoolers!) There’s no cost to join. By attending a Civitas event, you are already signed up.
