In an effort to bring more depth and substance to current issues, Civitas sponsors a full day issue conference each February. These conferences are designed for students who are truly interested in “state of the world” issues. Students must be willing to prepare in advance and participate actively during the sessions. Admission is by application only.
On occasion, students take on the roles of representatives of sovereign nations or even factions within these countries. Conferences on domestic issues also can involve role-playing. At other times, students are without restraints and brainstorm solutions to complicated problems. When desirable, Civitas provides guest speakers and media presentations.
Previous conferences have included Re-inventing the United Nations, People on the Move: immigrants, refugees, and shifting populations, Rebuilding Haiti, Genocide, Green Deal & Environmental Political Policy, Active Citizenship Conference, The Middle East, and more.
