Resolution GA-01 April 3

Re.:                             Dirty Water in Papua New Guinea
Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            Bulgaria, Costa Rica
Date:                           April 3, 2025

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #3 is Good Health and Well-Being, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #6 is Clean Water and Sanitation, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #11 is, and Sustainable Cities and Communities, and

Whereas Article 3 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”, and

Whereas Article 25, section 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care, and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”, and

Appalled that only 40% of people in Papua New Guinea have access to clean water, and

Shocked that water and sanitation related diseases are one of the leading causes of death for children under 5 years old, in Papua New Guinea, and

Dismayed  thatover 76% of people in Papua New Guinea lack access to safe toilets, and

Realizing that the economic impact of poor sanitation is substantial with an annual loss of over US $7 million due to health complications and death, and

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will begin a program called “Pure Papua New Guinea” (PurePNG) which will focus in the villages that have access to the least amount of clean water Papua New Guinea.
  2. PurePNG will utilize a gravity feed system that provides free flowing water through communal taps to local houses, churches, clinics and schools.
  3. PurePNG will install large tanks of clean water in various locations that are central to the villages we are seeking to help.
  4. PurePNG will provide about 1,400 villages with direct access to clean water, impacting roughly 530,000 people.
  5. To create PurePNG, we request that the UN raise dues for the 10 wealthiest nations by GDP, by 10%. This would produce $11,166,877. We would spend this money on the system, water tanks, taps, and filtration system.
  6. Pure Papua New Guinea will last 3 years. If after this time there has been an increase in the access of clean water for people living in Papua New Guinea, and a decrease in the amount of sanitation related diseases , it can be renewed for an additional 5 years and expanded to other countries that are affected by the lack of clean water access.

Resolution GA-02 April 3

Re.:                                  Plastic Pollution
Submitted to:                 General Assembly
Submitted by:                Thailand
Date:                               April 3, 2025

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #14 is Life Below Water, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #15 is Life on Land, and

Whereas Article 5 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”, and

Shocked that 200 tons of trash washes up on the shores of Thailand each year, and

Knowing that Thailand has programs to clean up the trash, and

Recognizing that most of the trash washes up from China, Philippines, and Indonesia, and

Alarmed that China, Indonesia and the Philippines are focusing on their own pollution problems and not on the problems that they have caused Thailand,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The UN creates a program called Thailand Environmental Association (TEA). The goal of TEA is three times a week (Saturday, Monday, Wednesday), to help pick up trash on the beach and the forests. After we pick up about 5 tons of trash we will recycle it or if it is not recyclable we can reuse it or turn it into compost. We are expecting around 750 people to volunteer if we do not hit that goal in the 2 years we are doing TEA we will know that it did not work out very well but, if TEA helps Thailand get rid of trash we will continue for 5 more years and then we should hopefully get enough people to keep going. We will also inform China, Indonesia, and the Philippines about the pollution problems they are causing for Thailand.
  2. To pay for TEA we will raise money by taking donations from other countries and if no one will donate the UN will raise dues of the 6 richest countries by $5,000 which would be $43,998,039 million dollars which we will use to pay, feed, get bags, and trash cleaning devices for our volunteers over the years. We will pay our volunteers $15 dollars per hour.
  3. Depending on how many people will help at first it will take about a year and a half after we get enough people we will spread out around Thailand for 2 years and if successful, we could extend to Laos or Cambodia and if that is successful we will continue working for 5 years until it is so successful we extend for 5-10 more years.
  4. To know that our project will be successful we will do a test run during the year  and if we get at least 5% of the trash in the ocean and forest, and we hire about 350 people, we will continue to pick up trash in the environment, to save habitats, and to inform China, Indonesia, and the Philippines about the damage they are causing Thailand’s vast environments. We hope to get in total at least 1,050 people.

Re.:                             Improving Healthcare in Uganda
Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            North Korea
Date:                           April 3, 2025

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #3 is Good Health and Well-Being, and

Disturbingly Uganda provides worse healthcare for children who have so much to live for then adults who are already grown, and

Scarily 1.5 million people living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda, and

It has been appallingly recognized that Uganda has very poor healthcare infrastructure with only 186 hospitals within the country alone,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

Action plan: The UHIA program will be executed in Uganda, a country that has 1.5 million living with HIV/AIDS,while another 12.6 million people are living with malaria; they also have only 186 hospitals throughout the country.

  1. North Korea and the UN will create a program called (UHIA) Uganda Healthcare Improvement Act and work with WHO(World Health Organization). The WHO program as well as the Red cross who help countless countries with their public health issues.
  2. Divide Uganda into 4 quadrants. Plan to build 3 medical facilities within each quadrant to reach rural and marginalized populations.
  3. North Korea will utilize their own citizenry who are already trained medical personnel to train Ugandans to be doctors, nurses, midwives and other medical personnel.
  4. North Korea will work with WHO to provide money to build hospitals.
  5. North Korea will provide workers and work side by side with Ugandans to help build hospitals and other infrastructure.
  6. To pay for UHIA the United Nations will host a charity event for Uganda and have an auction with a viable art or designer company. The UN can also invite their top contributors to their programs.
  7. If enough products are auctioned off then this will raise $200 million to pay for medical equipment, education for the builders and the medical staff, food, and other materials required to build a hospital.
  8. The UN will closely work with the World Health Organization in order to get some qualified guidance and coordination. We can also get The Red Cross to provide doctors and hopefully a medical education. We plan to build 12 small hospitals within a timeline of 15 years.
  9. Any extra funds that are left can go towards expanding the program in Uganda and other countries.

Budget:

Education, builders, and medical staff = $15,000,000

Medical equipment : ( $1,000,000 x 62.5 pieces of medical equipment) = $62,500,000 Materials to build a hospital: ( $10,000,000 x 12) = $120,000,000

Food: $39,000,000

Re.:                             Deforestation in Nigeria
Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            United States of America, North Korea
Date:                           April 3, 2025

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #3 is Good Health and Well-Being, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #13 is Climate Action, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #15 is Life on Land, and

Whereas Article 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”, and

Appalled that The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) reported that Nigeria has lost over 96% of its natural forest cover, and

Shocked that deforestation is at an alarming rate of 11.1 per annum, one of the highest in the world, and

Dismayed that deforestation is responsible for about 20% of greenhouse gas emissions, and due to tropical deforestation, 1.5 billion tons of carbon is released to the atmosphere annually, and

Realized that poverty is seen as a driving force behind deforestation, with four in 10 Nigerians living in poverty in 2019,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will begin a program called “Back to Green Nigeria” (B2G) focusing on Edo, Nigeria.
  2. B2G will purchase two different local species of tree seeds, the African Mahogany and the Baobab from a nursery in Nigeria to help support the local economy.
  3. B2G will send a team of expert tree planters to recruit, hire, and train local Nigerians on the process of reforestation. The team of planters will properly and safely scope the land, plan the forest, and plant the seeds.
  4. During the years it takes for the two species to begin to mature, the B2G team will monitor and maintain the forests so that they reach their full potential without interference.
  5. In order to create B2G, we request that the UN raise dues for the 10 nations that pay the highest amount of dues by 5%. This would generate $9,929,917. We would spend $9,118,175 on the reforestation of the 12.3 kha that Edo lost due to deforestation in 2023. The remaining $811,760 would be spent on the labor of the workers.
  6. Back to Green Nigeria will last 5 years. If after this time we see an increase in forested area of the state of Edo by at least 2 kha the program can be renewed for an additional 5 years and expanded to other forests across Nigeria.

Re.:                             Clean Water and Sanitation in the Philippines
Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            The Philippines
Date:                           April 3, 2025

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #6 is Clean Water and Sanitation, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #14 is Life Below Water, and

Whereas Article 1 of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS states, “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”, and

Shocked that out of 118 million people in the Philippines, 53% of the homes do not have access to safe water and 39% of homes lack safe sanitation, and

Knowing that The Philippine’s population is growing quickly and that they are having major problems providing the growing population with clean water and sanitation services, and

Recognizing that to reach the 2030 target, we need to increase safe drinking water by 6x, sanitation by 5x, and hygiene by 3x, and

Alarmed that the Philippine’s oceans are one of the most marine plastic polluted places in the world,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. Action Plan:
The UN will create an organization called the Safe Access Association (SAA) that will bring people of the Philippines safe water and help the sick who can’t find treatment. This organization will build wells in different neighborhoods and will provide them with clean, unpolluted water that they can easily get access to. We will have a goal to build 20,000 wells which will provide enough water for everyone who needs it. The SAA will hire more doctors to treat the sick that usually can not get the treatment they need. They will go to the houses of the sick with no charge. The SAA and the Philippine government will pay them $10 an hour. We will encourage the Philippine government to spread the word to the Philippines about how water pollution is affecting them and how to stop it.
  2. Funding
We need 10 million dollars for building wells, 1 million for paying doctors, and 100,000  for  transportation. The UN will charge the 13 wealthiest countries by 1 million dollars more in UN dues to pay off the SAA. This will pay for transportation, doctors, and medical products. The SAA will closely work with the World Health Organization (WHO) to get necessary supplies at the lowest cost.

Budget – $13 million

  • Building wells: ($520 to build a well x 20,000 the amount of wells we are building=$10,400,000)

It costs $520 dollars to build one well. We are sending vans to 20,000 neighborhoods. Once we multiply the number it will cost $10,400,000.

  • Transportation:

We will have 5 doctors per van which will be 4,000 vans we are sending out. Each van will have one medical kit with all the medical equipment doctors need. It will be $50 each medical kit. (4,000 vans we are sending out x $50 which is the cost if each kit = 200,000)

We are setting aside $100,000 to fuel the vans.

  • Doctors:

(4,000 vans x 5 doctors each van= 20,000)
(20,000 doctors x 8 hours a day x 10 dollars an hour = 1,600,000)

Total:
20,000 x 1,600,000 for doctors x 200,00 x 100,000 for transportation x 10,400,000 for building wells = 12,320,000)

  1. Timeline
The SAA is working to solve this problem by the year 2035; 10 years. This will provide us with time to build wells, train doctors, ship equipment, and spread the importance of no pollution.
  2. Evaluation
We will know if we reached our goal by 2035 if we bring down the percentage of how many homes do not have access to safe water to 30% and the percentage of how many homes lack safe sanitation to 10%.
  3. Expand
If we complete these goals by 2035, we will expand into countries that are in the same condition as the Philippines. This will persuade other countries to participate in the Safe Access Association. Some countries that we can help are Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Uganda, Angola, Mozambique, South Sudan, Yemen, and Chad.

Resolution GA-06 April 3

Re.:                             Prevention of Rising Sea Levels
Submitted to:            General Assembly
Submitted by:            The Netherlands, Ireland, Singapore
Date:                           April 3, 2025

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #13 is Climate Action, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #14 is Life Below Water, and

Whereas Sustainable Development Goal #15 is Life on Land, and

Shocked that due to climate changes, the number of weather, climate, and water-related disasters have increased by 5 times! “Due to these changes in climate, the number of weather, climate and water-related disasters has increased by a factor of five over the past 50 years, causing over 2 million deaths and US$3.64 trillion in losses, and

Shocked that sea levels have risen faster than predicted last year because of thermal expansion which is caused by the increase of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Those gases are absorbed by the ocean making both sea temperature and levels rise. “Global sea level rose faster than expected in 2024, mostly because of ocean water expanding as it warms, or thermal expansion. According to a NASA-led analysis, last year’s rate of rise was 0.23 inches (0.59 centimeters) per year, compared to the expected rate of 0.17 inches (0.43 centimeters) per year. The warming of Earth is primarily due to accumulation of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, and more than 90 percent of this trapped heat is absorbed by the oceans. As this heat is absorbed, ocean temperatures rise and water expands. This thermal expansion contributes to an increase in global sea level.” (NASA), and

Shocked that land degradation is increasing due to sea levels rising which makes the process of erosion on coastal areas speed up. This erosion can lead to reduction of land, agricultural productivity, and much more. “At the shoreline, the added height from sea level rise can speed up erosion. Erosion can impact natural habitats and lead to the loss of land and property. When combined with flooding, erosion can damage roads, bridges, sewage systems, power plants, and other key infrastructure for the community”. (U.S. Sea Level Change. gov), and

Concerned that 2/3 of mainland Singapore is less than 50 feet above sea level, many atoll nations like Kiribati, Tuvalu, the Maldives, and the Marshall Islands are particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and coastal erosion, and countries like Bangladesh, China, India, and Vietnam, with large populations in coastal areas, face increased risks of flooding and displacement,

Be It Hereby Resolved That The General Assembly:

  1. The United Nations will start a non-profit organization called the Prevent Rising Seas by Planting Trees (PRSPT), where volunteers will prevent rising sea levels by planting trees in places with high sea level problems.
  2. To get funding, we will ask the top richest countries to donate money and help PRSPT collect a sum of 9 million dollars.
  3. PRSPT will reduce carbon emissions (which can melt glaciers and cause thermal expansion, leading to rising seas). Most carbon emissions come from ships and the Port of Singapore is the second busiest port in the world with 1000 ships docking daily and over 130,000 docking a year. PRSPT will plant 23,100,000 mangrove trees- trees that grow best on embankments-on the banks of the Port of Singapore and the rest of Singapore. The trees will absorb the carbon emissions from ships and turn it into oxygen(through the process of photosynthesis), which will improve the air quality of Singapore as well. Mangroves also absorb more water than the average tree, which will help lower sea levels even more. During the growing years of mangroves, one sucks up around 12.3kg of CO2 per year! All of the mangroves together would suck up 284 million CO2 per year!
  4. PRSPT will break this plan into two parts, each lasting from around 10-15 years. In the first part, 11,550,000 mangroves will be planted in 3 years or less. Then, after 5-10 years, the time it takes for mangroves to mature, tests will be made to see the progress made. PRSPT will check to see if the air quality has improved and if the rate of sea level rise in or near Singapore has slowed.. Then, the United Nations will evaluate our results and if given confirmation, PRSPT will initiate part two of its plan.
  5. In the second part of our plan, all the same procedures we followed in our first plan will be executed. After the remaining mangroves have been planted and reached maturity, tests will be made again. If the general assembly deems our organization to be successful, we will expand it to places like Tuvalu and the Maldives and extend it another 10-15 years.
  6. Budget: $9 million dollars (4.5 million dollars for the first 11,550,000 mangrove seeds and 4.5 million for the other 11,550,000 )
