In the Spring of 2020, the Pulitzer Center, University City School District, and Civitas collaborated to bring Nikole Hannah-Jones to STL to talk about her work on the New York Times 1619 Project. Copies of the project were sent to schools, local journalists wrote stories linking race in STL, and there were going to be events planned at various facilities to connect students with this work. Sadly the events have been placed on hold due to covid-19, but the Pulitzer Center is still sharing a ton of fantastic resources that students and teachers can access while at home.
