Nuclear Conference This Weekend!
Essentially
all information that you need for the conference can be accessed
from
http://www.civitas-stl.com/civ0607/Nuke_conference_index.htm.
It's finally here, the 2007
Civitas conference called "Who Gets to Belong to the Nuclear
Club?." It will be held at the Comfort Inn in Maryland
Heights (map). We begin this Friday (Feb. 16)
afternoon at 5:30 PM. Registration opens at 3:00
PM and continues until 5:15 PM. The conference
concludes at 3:15 PM on Saturday (Feb. 17).
If you feel that you need more
help with preparation for the conference (particularly if you
have not been able to attend the prep sessions), we will have an
on-line webinar
for you tonight, February 13, from 7:00 PM - 8:00
PM. Here's the gig: if you have signed up for the
conference, we have sent you a link to a site on our
intranet where we will present information to you related to the
conference. This will include important documents, perhaps
the PowerPoint,
links to key resources, etc. We'll also give you an
'800' phone number where you can call in and
this will truly be a comprehensive audio-visual learning
experience. In case you did not receive the mailing, you
can access the webinar by (a) clicking on the link in the
e-mail or http://civitasassociates.webexone.com/ and
entering the meeting code of 483495465 where it says, "Join
a WebEx Meeting." Then call 866-469-3239 (toll-free) and
once again enter the meeting code when prompted. You may
have to wait a minute or two while special software is
downloaded. If you are interested in participating in
tonight's webinar but have not yet received an invitation,
please e-mail us now at [email protected].
If you have
not yet submitted your permission form, please
fax it to us at (314) 367-7742
or bring it with you to the conference!
Civitas now takes credit cards and
PayPal for
fees. You can conveniently pay your conference fee by clicking here. For those paying the
full fee, the amount is $60.00; those who are
receiving financial assistance should pay the amount they
discussed with Arthur or Gloria.

ISRAELI-CONSUL GENERAL TO VISIT ST.
LOUIS
One week from this Thursday,
February 22, 2007, Consul General Barukh Binah, an Israeli
minister, will be speaking to St. Louis area students and
teachers at Soldan High School (map). The program will
begin at 10:00 AM and run until 12:00 PM. Congressman
Lacey Clay (MO - 1st District), Congressman Russ Carnahan (MO -
3rd District), and State Representative Jeff Roorda
(District #102 - Jefferson County) will address high school
students from bi-state areas in the main auditorium at Soldan
High School. They will talk about international affairs and role
of the United Nations. This program is sponsored by Soldan High
School's Model United Nations Club in cooperation with Civitas
Associates, International Affairs Council of St. Louis and
Jewish Community Center.
We are inviting your students and teachers associated
with Civitas programs to participate at this outstanding
program. Teachers, your students have a chance of life time to
engage in a dialogue with these speakers.
If you would like more information, please contact Dr.
Hamid Azimiaraghi Soldan International Studies High School at [email protected].

We're Planning An "Urban
Go-Team" for Later This Year
Civitas is planning to have a program
this summer in which students can intensely learn and act
upon urban issues in our metropolitan area. We'll do some
studying, we'll have lots of field trips, we'll have interesting
speakers, and we'll even try out some tasty restaurants.
We're either going to call the program the Urban Go-Team or "Show Me the Money in St.
Louis!"
As we begin our planning, we
need to know who might be interested in participating. We
have put together a short survey for any student who thinks that
he or she might be interested in participating. If you
would like to be part of this exciting program, we ask that you
take the survey by clicking here.
