Civitas Night at the Ballpark: Thursday, June 23 vs. Pirates

We are resuming our summer "Civitas Night at the Ballpark" event. It will be on Thursday, June 23 vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Because many of the MetroLink stations are under construction now, we will go by car. Since the game begins at 7:10 PM, we'll meet at 6:45 PM at Gate 4 -- on the stadium side of the bridge that traverses 7th Street.

There are actually very few games remaining this year with seats available. However, there are plenty of seats available for the game that we have selected.

If you are interested, the cost is $10.00 per person (Civitas will subsidize this activity so that we can get better seats.). To sign up, please complete our short form.

Civitas MetroLink Day on Thursday, July 7

As most of us know, the MetroLink system in St. Louis is expanding westward into Clayton and southward to Shrewsbury through Maplewood. In our Urban Studies program two summers ago, we scheduled a day to travel the entire length of the current system. We did not have enough time to complete the route. This year we'll do it by leaving from Crossroads School (map below) at 9:00 AM and returning to the school by 3:30 PM. We'll stop for lunch in Laclede's Landing and also spend some time at Lambert Airport. If you are interested, If you are interested, the cost is $2.00 for person plus lunch. To sign up, please click here.

Do you think Marijuana should be legal for medicinal purposes?

WASHINGTON -- Federal authorities may prosecute sick people whose doctors prescribe marijuana to ease pain, the Supreme Court ruled Monday, concluding that state laws don't protect users from a federal ban on the drug.

The decision is a stinging defeat for marijuana advocates who had successfully pushed 10 states to allow the drug's use to treat various illnesses.

Do you think that marijuana should be legal for medicinal purposes?
