2004 Urban Studies Program Canceled
A variety of factors have combined to make our previously announced Urban Studies Program impractical this year. In place of the three Urban Studies sessions, we will hold discussion groups focusing on world and local political issues, and on educational and social issues chosen by participants. The three discussion groups will take place on Saturday, March 20, from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, from 1-3 p.m., and Saturday, May 10 from 9-11 a.m. We�re looking forward to some lively discussions, and we hope you�ll want to be there.

Middle School UN Gearing Up to Start March 24th

Students from 20 schools have been working hard to prepare for 2004 Middle School United Nations sessions. Five sessions will take place each Wednesday during March and April, beginning March 24th. This year, 24 teachers have done an extraordinary job of preparing their students- these UN sessions should prove to be the best of recent years!

During Civitas Middle School UN, students write unique UN resolutions that address problems that their country, or the world at-large, is facing. Resolution for the first two sessions are up on the web, and can be found by clicking the link below. Special thanks to Office Monkey, Bobbi, who has diligently edited and uploaded resolutions.

All sessions will be held from 9:00 AM until 12:00 NOON at the Creve Coeur Government Center (see link to map below).

Is it fair for President Bush to use 9-11 in political ads?

Bush re-election campaign is spending over $5 million to broadcast two commercials that make reference to Sept. 11th. Firefighters and some families of the victims of the World Trade Center attacks have criticized the use of the images as cynical exploitation of a national tragedy. Do you it's fair for President Bush to use 9-11 in political ads?

While I'm not a supporter for Kerry, in case he wins though I'd like it to be with McCain. But that's just cause the other choices weren't very good. Dean stated that he needed his wife because Dean's impulsive and folows his gut, but his wife is good at planning. Carol embezzled, I can't stand Gephardt, and I think Edwards wouldn't be very productive.

I think no matter what happens to Edwards this election (assuming he doesn't get nominated at the convention), he will run later and do very well. Even if he becomes vice president, he will go far in his political career. He reminds me of JFK. We'll see what happens.
