2. Saturday, March 27, 2004 from 1:00 PM 4:00 PM (3 hours). Field trip to a mall and the area surrounding the mall. If you wish, you can remain at the mall following the workshop.

3. Saturday, April 10, 2004, from 9:00 AM 2:30 PM. Field trip to at least one mall as well as an Urban Council Meeting in which students discuss their findings from their urban studies to date.

Kirkwood-Webster Groves Times Covers Revenge & Reconciliation Conference

Our thanks to the Kirkwood-Webster Times for their fine coverage of our Revenge & Reconciliation conference in February. We appreciate that they were the only newspaper to cover the story.

There are a couple of factual errors in the story, but overall, they did an excellent job of presenting a clear picture of the conference. A link to the story appears below.

Does John Kerry have it clinched?

Technically John Kerry has not yet accumulated enough delegates to secure the Democratic Party nomination for president. There are four southern primaries today including the unprredictable Florida. Next week, March 16, is our neighboring state of Illinois. Either that primary or the one in Pennsylvania on April 27 should put John Kerry over the top.

However, the campaign is in high gear. Our poll today is for people who is comfortable supporting John Kerry as the Democratic nominee. The question is, "Who of the following would you like to see as the nominee for vice-president on the John Kerry ticket? (Survey below).

Last week's question was:

Former Green Party candidate Ralph Nader has now entered the 2004 presidential race as an independent candidates. Many people feel that his presence on the ballot in 2000 cost Al Gore the election. Many also feel that he could possibly damage the chances of the Democratic candidate in 2004. What are your thoughts on the question?

Responses:

1. It's a terrible idea for him to run; he will damage any Democrat's chance against Bush. 34% (5)

2. I may not like him running, but he has every right to do so in a democracy. 34% (5)

3. It doesn't matter to me. 7% (1)

4. I'm glad that he's running because it will help my choice, President George Bush. 7% (1)

5. Ralph Nader is an excellent candidate for president of the United States. 18% (3)

Total: 15

It seem as if the world is ending!!! Who, in there right mind would give Ralph Nader the money to run for presidency? It seems as if democracy as we know it is going to the dogs!!

Beth von Behren, writer

Somebody needs to tie him up and stow him somewhere until the election is over. Only kidding - but he needs to bow out.
