  • Dear Arthur,

It's New Year's eve. Once again, this will be a very short newsletter. The main item is today's poll, listed below. Next week we will resume our regular programming.

In addition to reading our newsletters, you may also want to visit our web site by clicking here. We have a good deal of current information, and through the year we will be working on building up our archives from previous years.

    New Poll:
This is not a poll about about prohibiting citizen access to liquor. The question simply is, "In your opinion, do the benefits of liquor in our society outweigh the harm done by it?"

    1. Yes 2. No 3. Not Sure

Dinner, Discussion, & Movie on Friday, Jan. 10
On Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, we will have our first dinner, discussion, and movie of the new year. It will be at the Chase-Park Plaza. Dinner ($5.00/person) will be at 6:00 PM. Activities should be over at approximately 10:00 PM. Please meet in the lobby of the Chase where the hotel check-in is.

MUNUC Prep Session #2, Discussion Group on Saturday, Jan. 11
The second preparation session for MUNUC (Model U.N. of the University of Chicago) will be on Saturday, January 11 at Crossroads School (map below). The prep session will be from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. A free and open discussion group will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Outstanding refreshments will also be available.

For those going to MUNUC, please bring your position paper. As stated previously, we are less concerned about the quality or authenticity of your position paper than we care about your efforts towards learning about your country and the issues before your committee. We know this is something we cannot really measure, but we hope that you share the goal of learning rather than just cranking out words.

Please remember that the first $150.00 payment of the trip is due that day. If you have any questions about that, please do not hesitate to contact us.
