Fall Session of Gateway Model U.N. Major Success!
The Fall Saturday session of the Gateway Model United
Nations last Saturday, November 16, was a major
success. Three committees of the General Assembly
engaged in healthy debate and discussion about a
variety of issues. The Security Council considered
three resolutions; passed one and rejected two.
We have four special internet links as follow-ups from
the session. They are:
1. Link to the resolutions and what happened to them
(available at the bottom of this article).
2. Link to ongoing discussions and debate on the
resolutions. This is our first on-line Model U.N. The link
is in our next article.
3. Link to video from the conference. That follows the
on-line article.
4. Photos from the conference. That follows the video
article.

We have received word from the MUNUC
(Model United Nations of the University of Chicago)
office last week that our delegation, known as Civitas

Ethiopia and the Seychelles.
Ethiopia, located in the "Horn of Africa," will have four
to eight representatives on General Assembly
committees; one to two on the Economic & Social
Council; one to two on the African Union; and one to
two on the World Health Organization. The Seychelles

seventy islands in high tide) located about seven
hundred miles south of India. Technically, it is
considered part of the African continent. It will have
four to eight representatives on General Assembly

New Poll |
|
One of the questions facing the current "lame duck"
Congress is whether to convert the temporary tax cuts
passed last year to permanent tax cuts. Conventional
economic theory says that tax cuts result in less
revenue for the government. Which of the two
statements below best reflects your thinking.
1. I prefer making the tax cuts permanent, even if it
runs the risk of higher federal deficits.
2. I prefer a tax policy that makes balancing the federal
budget a higher priority than making tax cuts
permanent.
3. Not Sure
You can link to our poll below.
